| PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: |
| Characterized by disseminated patches of demyelinization and calcification in the brain
and spinal cord, the disease is slowly progressive with symptoms of muscular
weakness, lack of coordination, kinetic movements, spasms of the arm, leg
and eye muscles, and disturbances of bladder control. Medically the etiology
unknown and the disease runs a ten to twenty year course with remissions and exacerbations. |
| PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: |
| There appears to be a metabolic element possibly enzymes in the blood with myelin-splitting
abilities and vascular lesions as a result of abnormal blood-clotting time,
that is the major factor in this disease. Autopsies reveal marked deficiencies
in tissue lecithin, especially in the myelin sheaths with saturated fatty
acids predominating over unsaturated fatty acids. Coincidentally the disease
is rare in warm countries and more predominant in areas where the diet
is especially high in saturated fats. Extreme stress is always part of
the picture and it is logical to assume that nutritional deficiencies are
the most important factors in the etiology of this disease. |
| TREATMENT: |
| A11 nutrients with high mineral and vitamin content must be emphasized in a totally natural,
balanced diet program. Intense therapy with concentrated natural food elements
must be maintained and continued indefinitely. Important to check for food
allergies. Use Dr. Mandell's Five-Day Rotation Diet. |
