| PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: |
| A collagen vascular disease of unknown etiology characterized by connective tissue
inflammation, anemia, joint stiffness, visceral lesions and skin eruptions.
Occurring predominantly in young women, but sometimes seen in children and older adults. |
| PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: |
| The defense mechanisms of the entire body are put to route in this disease as all physiological
processes of the body are disrupted. The manifestations of the disease are many and varied from individual to individual, but diagnosis is fairly
easy when a febrile disease occurs with skin rash, nephritis, polyarthritis, intermittent pleural pain, leukopenia, and hyperglobulinemia with the presence
of LE cells. Symptoms of adrenal exhaustion are evident. |
| TREATMENT: |
| Orthodox medical treatment has been most unsatisfactory in most of these cases.
Massive therapy from a nutritional standpoint offers the only really progressive hopeful prognosis. |
