PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The past decade has seen a recognition of this syndrome and it is now being diagnosed with increasing frequency. It is characterized by abnormal behavior and activity. The child may be listless and withdrawn or hyperkinetic with impulsive and occasionally aggressive or destructive activity. The psychopathologic mechanism has not bee defined. Hypoglycemia must be considered.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Usually the child's attention span is short with low stress tolerance and emotional activity. Environmental stimuli produce a hyperresponse and there are often coordination difficulties. Intellectually they vary from normal totvarying degrees of slowness or retardation.

TREATMENT:
Childhood behavioral problems generally will respond to intense Nutritional Therapy. Children who have been raised on a diet of highly processed and chemicalized foods are most apt to be in this category and a complete change of diet with added natural supplements often completely reverses the behavioral pattern. Total elimination of white sugar is mandatory for improvement.
