EPA-DHA 300 #499
6 per day. Lowers cholesterol without lowering HDL.

Rice Bran Oil #430

PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
A disorder of lipid metabolism characterized by elevated serum cholesterol in association with xanthelasma, tissue zanthomas, accelerated atherosclerosis, and early myocardial infarction.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Low density lipoproteins (LDL) cell receptors appear to be absent or defective and this results in delayed clearing of LDL, increased plasma levels and accumulation of LDL over pressure points, joints and especially in blood vessels where it forms accretions that inaugurate build-up of plaques resulting in reduction of lumen of the vessels and reduced blood flow.

TREATMENT:
The only truly satisfactory course of treatment in these cases is purely nutritional. The body needs cholesterol, but not in massive amounts. If all foods containing cholesterol were eliminated, the liver would still produce cholesterol, as one cannot live without it in normal amounts. Dietary restriction of hydrogenated fats and oils, heavy saturated animal fats as beef, lamb and pork, margarine and sugar, must be avoided to favorably affect the problem in every case.
