PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
An extremely common condition consisting of varicosities of the veins of the anorectal plexus often complicated by inflammation, thrombosis and hemorrhage. External hemorrhoids consist of small rounded purplish masses covered with skin and lie beneath the stratified squamous epithelium of the lower anal canal. The internal type lie above the anal mucocutaneous line.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Back pressure and venous stasis are the main factors in producing hemorrhoids. As the portal venous system has no values, any increase in intra-abdominal pressure such as occurs in pregnancy is transmitted directly to the dependent veins of the hemorrhoidal plexus. Constipation is alst a factor in causing hemorrhoids and it has been noted that toxemia often accompany this condition with reabsorption of bile toxins into the bloodstream.

TREATMENT:
Adherence to an adequate diet is essential and strict attention paid to effecting good elimination and detoxification of the body is necessary.
