PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
A diffuse pain that may occur in any portion of the head without reference to nerve distribution. Headaches may be acute or chronic and character of the pain may vary from dull ache to sharp stabbing pain. They may be intermittent, throbbing or a bursting pressure-type pain.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Acute headaches that come and go may be due to a variety of factors including disease conditions of the eye, ear, nose, or throat. They may be a part of the picture of various acute infections or they may be due to traumatic involvements of the head and neck. Almost any disturbance of body function may cause headache. Headaches also may appear in the absence of any organic pathology.

TREATMENT:
It is always wise to search out the cause of the headache with specific treatment directed at removing the cause. Regardless of the etiology, the following therapeutic regime is indicated.
