PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

A circumscribed erosion of the mucous membrane of the stomach and/or duodenum involving mucosal areas exposed to gastric digestive secretions and often penetrating through the muscularis mucosa.

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

The genesis of gastric ulcers is purely stress with emotional tension and psychologic conflicts basing the etiology in almost every case. Regurgitation of biliary secretions from the duodenum when gastric HC1 is absent or deficient creates production of excessive HC1 which digest the mucosa when local tissue immunity is reduced and an ulcer forms.

TREATMENT:

The raw ulcer must be healed first before oral supplementation is started. This may be accomplished by rest, psychologic soothing and by liquid nutrients designed to sooth and heal. Raw, fresh cabbage juice, a tablespoon at a time every hour during the early stages, then increased to a quart a day which may be mixed with carrot juice or celery juice according to taste. A diet rich in protein and featuring raw foods above all, should be instituted. Milk and cream, meats raw fruits and vegetables, cheese, eggs, whole cereal grains, raw seeds and nuts, and fresh seafood are most desirable. Supplementation should be started as soon as the pain is gone.
