PATHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

The term "learning disability syndrome", covers a wide range of juvenile problems of character and behavior. It is not intended to include the mentally defective or deformed or brain-damaged individual. It does include the autistic child and those with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). In these cases there is no discernable central nervous system pathology and even the retarded child shows no organic tissue or structural pathology. The history of most of these cases will reveal a more or less deficient nutrition after birth and through the early infant years, but more than this, close investigation will often reveal a poor nutritional environment of the mother before, during, and after her pregnancy. Basically, nutrition is the prime etiological factor in all these cases.
